What’s Happening September 28th – October 1st

Hello Qayqayt Families,

We have a very busy week ahead of us next week so we thought we would send out some of the information now and then again on the weekend.

Start Time for School- Just a reminder to all families, our bell to start school is at 8:50 a.m. Please do your best to have your child(ren) arrive to school on time.

Monday, September 28th– Professional Development Day– students do not attend school as staff will be onsite in workshops all day

Tuesday, September 29th– Terry Fox Run- The whole school will be participating in the 40th Terry Fox School Run on this day.  Classes will be either walking a certain route around the school or running on the upper grass field.  All classes will have preselected times to participate in this event in order to follow Health and Safety protocol.  Please dress your children appropriately for the weather. We are also encouraging everyone to make a donation to the Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research.  Please click on the link below to donate: http://www.terryfox.ca/EcoleQayqaytElementary.

Wednesday, September 30th– Orange Shirt Day– We are encouraging all of our students to wear something Orange on this day.  Orange Shirt Day was created to promote awareness in Canada about the Indian residential school system and the impact it has had on Indigenous communities for over a century. All of our classes will be participating in Orange Shirt Day through activities that have been embedded within the curriculum.
